'Big Brother' 16 Update :: Zankie Break Up To Make Up

It was a tumultuous week in the "Big Brother" 16 house especially for the five-person alliance the Detonators, which has been steamrolling through the entire season. Two of the alliance's breakout members are Frankie and Zach, who've had a budding relationship that toes the line of a showmance and bromance.

The two, affectionately known as Zankie, have been inseparable for the nearly two-months they've spent locked away in the house, closed off from the outside world. What makes their relationship interesting, as if you don't already know, is that Frankie is gay and Zach is straight but it doesn't stop them from flirting, kissing, slapping each other's butts, and giving each other massages. They've even confessed to each other they want to have sex, but it's always with a hint of "just kidding!".

Everything was going swimmingly up until last week, when host Julie Chen revealed it was a double eviction week. This means, two people would be leaving the game in one night as the houseguests battle it out in a week's worth of competitions in under an hour. After the night was done, two players on the outs of the majority alliance, Nicole and Christine, were in power. Nicole, who everyone turned on during the first part of the double eviction, flipped out and threw Frankie under the bus, exposing his lies and his scheme to secretly take out Zach to everyone else in the house.

This was news to Zach, who felt the ultimate betrayal, saying he felt like "my wife cheated on me."

Initially, Frankie denied, denied, denied and then tried to strike up a deal with Nicole to get rid of Zach (again) and the other members his Detonators alliance. Shocker: that backfired as well and it got back to the Detentions. Zach, who is no stranger to stirring the pot, was furious and refused to acknowledge Frankie's existence for days. The group came together and concocted a plan to take Frankie out by blatantly throwing a challenge, putting Frankie in direct threat of being evicted.

But that didn't work out so well, and somehow Frankie won the Battle of the Block challenge on his own, granting himself immunity for the week.

Now safe for the week, Frankie knew this was the perfect time to do some major damage control, especially with Zach. But Zach wasn't having it and fired back at Frankie, saying he was playing a dirty game.

"Zach, your game is dirtier than a dildo in my ass," Frankie responded.

Frankie said he wanted to make a big announcement that would change everything. He gathered all the guys together, including a reluctant Zach, and announced that he was a "social media mogul" had "1.5 million followers" and that he is a "YouTube and television personality." He also surprised his fellow houseguests by revealing his sister is pop star sensation Ariana Grande.

Though only two of the guys kind of sorta knew who she was, Frankie's announcement was still a successful game move: it deflected the negative attention off himself and everyone was focused on his pseudo-celebrity lifestyle -- Frankie said he could hook up his competitors with the likes of Justin Bieber but claimed he was living paycheck-to-paycheck and only made money off his YouTube videos.

He also said he fully supports himself and does not use any of his family's money or any of Ariana Grande's pop star No. 1 hit single cash.

"On a good week I make $1,000," Frankie said, before mentioning that if he wins "Big Brother" 16, he will give the $500,000 grand prize to charity to help build schools in Africa. Obviously, some players, like Derrick, didn't think all of Frankie's reveals added up.

Nevertheless, the announcement bought Frankie time and he was able to repair the brides he burned. Finally, Zach gave in and "made up" with Frankie and they are once again Zankie -- at least on the outside. In the confessionals however, Zach told audiences that he's only apologized to Frankie for the time being and won't have a problem if he has to boot him out in the coming weeks.

Zankie aren't the only ones to patch things up; the entire Detonators alliance are back together at this point. They may be the most dysfunctional "Big Brother" alliance in the reality show's 14-year history, but they've made it to the final eight and stand a good chance of making it to the final five -- that is as long as Zankie don't have another major meltdown.
