Provincetown is ready for another close-up this week. Earlier this year the FX horror franchise "American Horror Story" came to the resort to film off-season for the currently airing "American Horror Story: Red Tide", one half of what's billed "American Horror Story: Double Feature".

Throughout the town today a crew for the upcoming Billy Eichner rom-com "Bros" will be filming with Eichner and co-star Luke Macfarlane.

"About 120 film crew members are expected to be on site throughout town filming 'Bros,' an NBC Universal production," writes the Provincetown website Wicked Local.

Variety wrote in March that Eichner will write, star, and co-star with out actor Luke Macfarlane, who was cast last month.

"Nick Stoller ('Forgetting Sarah Marshall') will direct from a script he co-wrote with Eichner, who will also serve as an executive producer on the project, which will be produced by comedy luminary Judd Apatow. The film follows two men with commitment issues who attempt to start a relationship together," wrote Collider in August. The film is expected to be released August 12, 2022.

On Monday, Wicked Local writes, the Select Board approved the concept of the location agreement between the town and the production company, The Bros Movie LLC. "Details of the agreement were to be finalized by town staff and legal counsel. The agreement allows the film production company to enter onto and use property controlled by the town, which includes streets."

"The scenes to be filmed are the two main actors walking around the West End of Commercial Street, according to the paperwork," adds Wicked Local. "They have a drink at the Red Inn, and then they walk down to MacMillan Pier. They go to fudge shops, the Toys of Eros retail store, and they eat pizza at Spiritus Pizza. They walk by the Atlantic House bar, the Boatslip resort and they end their day with dinner at The Canteen. They then watch the sunset on the beach behind The Canteen."

The Starz series "Hightown" has also filmed there, though not without controversy. "'Hightown' follows hard-partying Jackie Quiñones (played by actor Monica Raymund), a Provincetown resident who reconsiders her life after finding a body washed up on the beach," writes Wicked Local.

"On Monday Select Board member Louise Venden raised objections about the content of 'Hightown', which she said offended some townspeople," Wicked Local said.

"'I think the town will be portrayed in a good way,' Town Manager Alex Morse said of 'Bros', in response to Venden's comment," according to Wicked Local.
