A Republican lawmaker has, according to him, solved the world's problems, and it all comes down to same-sex marriage.

During a televised debate about new anti-domestic violence legislation, Rep. Bob Good of Virginia launched into a tirade about how marriage equality was part of a "plague" affecting society, reported the Independent.

"Nearly everything that plagues our society can be attributed to a failure to follow God's law and his rules for and definition of marriage and family," Good stated. According to him, the anti-domestic violence bill's gender identity provisions would "coerce faith-based providers... to violate their deeply held beliefs or stop their work altogether".

The moment was captured via C-Span and sparked internet-wide outrage, with many branding Good a "bigot." To his credit, Good seems to be an equal opportunity offender. He claimed the pandemic was a hoax, came out against LGBTQ equality, and hotly opposed the teaching of critical race theory — all moments that be easily found on YouTube with a search of his name.

About Good's comments on the bill, the Secular Coalition for America tweeted, "Not only is this completely false Rep Bob Good, this is grossly insulting to all survivors and victims of domestic abuse."

Author Hemant Mehta pointed out that Good commenting was "especially ironic" because he had previously worked as a fundraiser for Liberty University's athletics program. "That's Liberty U., the school known for following God's rules... and for repeatedly ignoring/dismissing claims of sexual assault by female students," explained Mehta.

Good's opponent in the 2020 race for Virginia's 5th Congressional district, Denver Wriggleman, also chimed in, writing: "What plagues our society are idiots."

See Good launch into his tirade below, but be forewarned that there is nothing "good" about it.
